We opened the summer at Bessie Branham Park, Camp Best Friends, and we brought someone with us! Marcus Foster II, a professional basketball player and founder of Foster Forward, just returned to Atlanta after his season in Germany. Kids rotated through fundamental stations, worked on footwork and ball handling, and then finished with 3-on-3. Marcus ran stations, talked to every group, and showed these kids what it looks like when someone who competes at the highest level still shows up and works. More camps are coming. Week one of Worlds Between Pages is done, and the kids showed out. The program launched at East Atlanta Kids Club with story-based activities centered on movement, exploration, and active engagement, because children learn better when they can touch, move, and interact with what they read. The goal is to build attention and regulation, the foundational skills that make reading possible.
